Instructions

Remove protective plastic bag and rinse carbon insert thoroughly before use. Place insert into chemical media basket. To maintain water quality, it is important to replace insert every 2 – 4 weeks. To ensure constant presence of beneficial bacteria, do not replace all filtration media at the same time.

I change the carbon in my filter bi-weekly. Is this too often if I have a small fish load?

No, it is better (and easier) to prevent odors versus having to remove them once they’ve accumulated. Some fish are messy eaters, or are more prone to producing large amounts of waste, so prevention is key.

Does Fluval carbon filter media remove the liquid plant fertilizer I apply to my aquarium?

Carbon, especially when new, can remove some trace elements present in many liquid plant supplements. We recommend waiting at least a week or two after having changed the carbon before you apply a liquid plant supplement.
